The “Farmers Carry” is NOT a particularly good ("mechanically efficient") fitness exercise
Просмотров 60 тыс.5 лет назад
Watch our free masterclass Compound vs Isolation: online.smarttraining365.com/masterclass/ It’s very common for the fitness industry to recruit movements used in sports and strength exhibitions, and convert them into “fitness exercises”-but this is not always a good idea. The pursuit of fitness goals should, ideally speaking, include exercises that are highly efficient-producing the most benefi...
Incline Presses Do Not Really Work the Upper Pecs Much !

Watch our free masterclass Compound vs Isolation: online.smarttraining365.com/masterclass/ For nearly a century, we've all been told that "Incline Presses work the upper pecs", and we've embraced that belief. However, it's simply not true. Yes, the "upper pecs" work a little bit during Incline Presses, but not much. This video explain why.

Common mistake is the origin of the actual movement. Well nervous system initiated in the head, well on a bicep curl why is it hands or forearms… it’s could be a rhomboid on a bicep curl. Problem fuck is our lack of joy and absolute lack of accurate senses.

I was gettin ready to unleash the nukes. luckily i read some of the comments and noted that the points made are technically valid if you look at it from the perspective of a bodybuilder. If you are attempting to design and craft a particular physique then i get it. but if you are not AT LEAST an intermediate bodybuilder or not a bodybuilder at all, then farmer's carry is quite possibly the King. Even more so than deadlifts. $0.02.

OMFG this guy is an idiot. A load is the force exerted on a surface or a body. That’s it. The idea that because a mass is oriented vertically as opposed to horizontally there is no load is among the dumbest things I’ve ever heard in the sea of stupid on fitness vids. I guess if there is no load you could walk around with the Empire State building on your head since it’s vertically oriented. Also if vertically oriented loads don’t require muscles to support them then why do human skeletons collapse instead of standing up on their own in your local museum. What’s that you say? From a percentage basis the vast majority of the muscles in the skeletal system are engaged in resisting the force of gravity (derrr vertical) and helping you walk from point a to b? Well you’d be bio mechanically correct. But obviously adding additional weight to that system doesn’t require any additional muscle activation to carry and move that additional weight? Ah yeah…. Regardless of your personal preference for carries to anyone reading this comment PLEASE don’t ever go into a structure built by this dimwit as it’s very likely to collapse on you because it will be inadequately supported.

The key is to do leg raises correctly and then they do indeed work the abs.Jeff Cavaliere explained it perfectly in one of his Athlean X videos: " Show your ass".In other words, when you do leg raises , don't lift your legs only until they are parallel to the floor, keep lifting them as far as you can ( without swinging ) , sort of curling yourself back.

if someone does leg raises, they have to do with a good technique which includes, "posterior pelvic tilt" which eliminates hip flexors. You never mentioned about posterior pelvic tilt. The title seems a click bait and best and misleading content at worst. Also, you said, people do leg raises to add additional pack which is untrue.

This is interesting Mike from Renaissance Periodization also says farmers walks and suitcase carries are useless. I think the loaded carry is at the intersection of “the effectiveness of isometrics” and the gap between fitness science vs many people’s experience. I don’t know though I’m just a newbie pleb.

Makes sense, BUT I've been doing these for a month and feel reborn. I use 50# dumbbells. I'm in my late 50s. Your physics explanation is omitting something - maybe the full body tenseness needed to control the weight. I think using too much weight could do harm.

Gironda's Sissy Squat is the combination of three movements: 1. the knee drops, 2. the burlesque bump, 3. standing. However, they can be performed individually, I do knee drops using body weight or with a barbell. Brignole's Sissy squat as demonstrated here refers to the second movement "the burlesque bumps". Hence, to refer to any of these three movements apart from the rest as sissy squat is a misnomer. Sissy squats is performed with these three movements--knee drop, then burlesque bump, then standing up as one smooth movement.

This guys should do the lifts he’s going to condemn. He OBVIOUSLY hasn’t done them. Also, there is a LOT more to a good workout than the moment are and the efficiency it creates. Find me ONE even ONE athlete that only works out with muscles with light weights in the “efficient” position. This is flat out bad advice. It’s ivory tower fitness philosophy. Watch the people who train athletes, bodybuilders etc. see what they say. They will one for one disagree with this guy. I wouldn’t read the book if it was free.
